Graduate School Essays
If you are applying to graduate school, chances are you will have to write a personal statement describing what led you to apply to the program and what you hope to get out of it. Almost all law schools, business schools, medical schools and master’s and PhD programs require these essays.
Making the link
On the surface, the task seems pretty straightforward: You must establish a link between your past experiences and your interest in a particular profession or program. But the best graduate school admissions essays do much more than that. As with undergraduate admissions essays, graduate school admissions essays are exercises in strategic creativity. Yes, you must let the school know that you have specific goals, but you also must demonstrate that you have the character traits to achieve those goals. Strong essays do this by combining richly detailed narrative with moments of honest self-reflection.
This is not easy, but through talking and writing, drafting and revising, I will help you select and develop the most compelling aspects of your personality and experience. Together, we will weave them together into a story that will persuade admissions committees that you deserve a spot in their program.
